Приєднався 23 тра 2006
Louise Bichan is a USA-based Scottish musician and photographer who uses both mediums to tell stories old and new.
Growing up in the remote but culturally rich Orkney islands, a place where creativity abounds and playing music has been a part of the social fabric for centuries, gave Louise a solid grounding in music. She started playing fiddle at the age of 7 after witnessing the magic of live music: “I remember the butterflies in the tummy feeling when watching concerts at the Orkney Folk Fest as a kid, wanting to be a part of it all.” The sense of community and belonging it gave her was infectious; she pestered her parents to let her learn.
Masterfully blending traditional and classical arrangements, her music is thoughtful, and complex, curious and playful. She composes in response to her roots and the world around her; weaving through stories of connection, to people, nature, the past and the possibility of the future.

Wow! I just was listening to this on Facebook. It was playing about a minute or so into it when I clicked on this UA-cam one. The overlapping was in perfect cynic. The harmonies were great. The flute sole getting a second shot of cool. I could listen to this live with a few more musicians and have another out of body experience. Great stuff.
Aw, thanks so much!!!
best cover I 've heard
Just saw this on 207, just amazing !
Aw, thanks so much!! I had forgotten it was to air today, thanks for the reminder!!
WOW! fresh and original - I attended a concert in Voorheesville NY at Old Songs April 5 - fantastic is an understatement of this experience.
Thank you thank you thank you! What a fun time at Old Songs, really enjoyed it, thank you for coming along!!
THIS IS AWESOME!!!
Thanks so much, Doc!!
Great playing! I What is the name of this song? I think I have found my new favourite band!
Aaw, thank you! It's called The Lost Summer - the title track to my new record! I wrote it in 2020, about missing Scotland, while being stuck in the US without being able to travel during the pandemic.
@@LouiseBichanOrkney You're welcome! I thought that was the band name haha
@@TuckerTheMandolinist Ooh, I guess we could be Louise Bichan and Lost Summer :) :)

I'm here :) Not there though. xD
You have a beautiful voice but song comes with a certain of amount of experiences. Don't sing Blaze until you know what your saying Please
You don't have to be seventy to have a glimpse of life. You just need open eyes.
@@twobeards6714 it's no different than a parrot with open eyes. Ask why she would find that lady with 2-3 kids and set down by her side. Play some Patsy Cline or Black Sabbath. Blaze,Towns Van Zant need and deserve to be respected... If not it's just cute
@@jimmywest4757 So I suppose John Prine never should have written and sang Angel From Montgomery in his mid 20's going by your logic.
RIP John and Blaze... I hope that I am allowed in heaven so that I can hear you both sing this together.
thought this was a michael cera song lol
Must say they are all fine musicians
He diffenitly is on my list of favorite mandplinist
Holy crap Just beautiful Perfect cove I could hang a I th someone like you Thank you

Aw, thank you!!
just brilliant

Came across this from Corner House, beautiful work! Glad to have found your tunes!
Aw, thank you!!
I'm constantly astounded by the number of young people who cover songs written by Blaze Foley. It is a measure of the man's genius and enduring legacy. A tortured soul and perhaps, a flawed genius, but a genius, nonetheless. RIP Blaze. Gerry Farry.
There's a BLAZE movie. That's the only reason they know.
Bravo!
Beautiful performance. I would love to learn this. It's amazing to think how much a piece of music can keep a story, a memory or someone's legacy alive for so much longer than the story along. It's a beautiful tribute to those people.
Thank you! It's such a beautiful and sorrowful tune, a perfect tribute indeed. If you read music, it's written out here: thesession.org/tunes/15708 if you want to try to learn it!
Oops, I'm logged in to my other account here, this is Louise :)
Thanks for your replies! Well I play cello but it doesn't look like it goes particularly high. I have a copy of it in bass clef for cello but the arrangement is slightly different. I'm sure I can figure something out 😊
@@Dparrey Oh lovely, yea I bet you can, I'm sure this tune would be so beautiful on cello!!
Wow such ease and freedom in your neck... v interesting chin rest which I guess helps? Lovely lovely
Absolutely gorgeous. Beautifully played. 🎶🎶🎶🎶🥰
